Who doesn’t love rice krispy treats?!!
These are such a fun treat because they’re nostalgic for adults, an easy kid pleaser & — if you haven’t seen my strategy yet — an easy thing to prep the day before your Super Bowl party to help ease day of prepping!
With as much experience as I have in events, I get it.
My goal of this list is not just for yummy recipes. It’s for you to have an ease in things you can prep the day before to free up the day of. And that certain recipes will have similar ingredients so you’re not buying 100 different things, but things that can be used in multiple dishes.
Those day 1Β Chicken Wings?
I’ll be showing you another recipe where some of the same chicken can be used. π
But for now… rice krispy treats!!!!
What You’ll Need:
4 TB. Butter
1 bag Marshmallows
6 c. Rice Krispies [gluten free brands available]
Pink Himalayan Salt, pinch
Additional Variation, as pictured above & below:
3-4 TB. Seed Butter** [I used Betsyβs Best Sunflower & Chia Seeds]
**The addition of the seed butter isn’t just for a fun twist of flavor! That’s an added bonus. π But the seed butter adds protein & fiber that would normally be lacking in a dessert like this!
Melt butter in large pan.
Add marshmallows over low heat, stirring frequently.
As they’re almost done melting, add a pinch of salt.
Then, add seed [or nut, if you prefer &Β allergies aren’t a problem] butter & stir to incorporate.
Turn off heat, but leave pan on burner while stirring in the cereal. Remaining heat will help give you time to mix well enough to get all the cereal well coated.
Pour mixture into greased 9×13 pan.
Pat down with greased side of butter wrapper, if you have it.
Cover & wait until day of to cut & plate.
You can also decorate them with team colors & player numbers like I did above. The orange is those candy melts used for cake pops! You could also do colored frosting, but the candy melts harden so they were less likely to get messed up in stacking! π
For the chocolate footballs, I added some chocolate chips during the melting phase. You could do the same with Nutella instead. For the white “laces” you can use frosting or candy melts. Again, the benefit of the candy melts is they harden & you can stack easier!
Very cute!
